In winter and out, the mountains of the Bohemian Forest provide plenty of excitement.
The best skiing of Sumava is found in Spicak. There are downhill trails for every level of experience, but also miles and miles of trails for the cross country enthusiast. Many paths lead into the villages at the foot of the mountain, each fortified with many restaurants and bistros. Finally, snowboard routes are also plentiful, with double pipes to test the most seasoned on the board. Adjacent to Spicak is Zelezna Ruda, a village with a major rail station.
For a more relaxed pace, try Nad Nadrazim, which is perfectly suited for the family trip. Children can be monitored easily by the clear sightlines and open terraces, and there are ski schools available for those still honing their downhill skills.
For those traveling sans skis, the paths and trails encircling the mountains are as scenic as you might expect, while also educational; informational boards are everywhere, providing directions as well as backgrounds on the trails themselves.
When you've done it all, you'll find the warmth and coziness or the refreshment and escape (depending on the season) in the well-appointed self catering properties we feature.
