Renovations at The Inn at Aspen
Major improvements are coming to The Inn at Aspen in time for the 2014/2015 ski season. Now through November 2014,* the lobby and common areas will be undergoing renovations to bring a fresh appearance and better guest experience to this ski-in, ski-out Aspen hotel.
Though some details remain subject to change, we wanted to share a first look at the changes you'll see when you visit The Inn at Aspen next season.
At the front entrance you'll notice new signage, more attractive landscaping and improved lighting. An impressive timber-framed porte-cochère, with large columns and metal fasteners, will be higher and wider to better accommodate larger bus and shuttle traffic.
Inside the grand lobby, a sloped ceiling will rise to a height of 24 feet, presenting an unobstructed view of Buttermilk Mountain through floor-to-ceiling windows. Substantial wood elements, a four-sided fireplace and rich leather seating at the concierge desk will add warmth to this welcoming space. In addition to the front desk, concierge desk and Enterprise Car Rental counter, the renovated lobby will feature a new business center with computers, printers and fax machines for guest use.
On the ski-area side of the lobby, a 24-foot-high grand entryway leads out to a stone patio with a gas fire pit and adjacent outdoor pavilion. The pavilion will be a year-round facility that can be used as a covered open-air venue or as an enclosed space using removable canvas side walls. When renovations are complete, this flexible space will host a variety of events, such as weddings, musical events and conferences. Located just off the restaurant and bar area, the outdoor pavilion will also serve as a seating area for lunch or dinner during the winter and spring months.
The food and beverage experience at The Inn at Aspen has been dramatically enhanced with the opening of McKenney's at The Inn.* Open seasonally, this onsite restaurant serves a menu of American fare for breakfast, lunch and dinner. With its tempting bar menu and views of the express ski lift, McKenney's has proved a popular après-ski hangout.
The revamped bar area will include booth-style dining, easy access to the enlarged outdoor seating area, and four 42" flat-screen TVs hanging above the center of a horseshoe bar. For quieter, more intimate dining, the Station Room is being renovated into a formal dining room where families, couples and small groups can enjoy upscale cuisine in a candlelit room accompanied by a roaring fire.
Make plans now to spend your next ski vacation at the newly renovated Inn at Aspen. Book your ski lodging early, and be ready when the first snow falls.
*Please note that during the renovation, guest rooms will be open, but the restaurant, bar, fitness center and meeting rooms will be closed. A temporary check-in location is located just left of the lobby, and limited amenities will be available on site. Renovations at The Inn at Aspen are expected to be complete in November 2014. Renovation plans and schedule are subject to change.
