Kids Activities in Steamboat

Summertime in Steamboat is ideal for families with children. You won’t have a problem tiring out the kids but you might be challenged finding enough time to get it all in.

Adventure Zone in Gondola Square
Visit the Adventure Zone in Gondola Square at the base of the Steamboat Ski Area. The fun activities for all ages include a climbing wall, mechanical bull, mini-bounce house, slingshot bungee jump, ropes course, water walkerz and more. Open daily mid-June through September (closed during Wine Festival). Check with the Steamboat Ski Area for hours and rates.

Kids' Adventure Club
The Steamboat Ski Area offers a summer camp experience for children ages 3 to 12. Kids can enjoy fun adventures in the mountains, such as biking, hiking, climbing, arts and crafts, outdoor games and more. Contact the Steamboat Ski Area for rates and availability.

Waterslides at the Old Town Hot Springs
The Old Town Hot Springs in downtown Steamboat Springs offers two 230-foot waterslides! The slides are open Noon-6:00pm from Memorial Day Weekend through Labor Day, and then from Noon-4:00pm on weekends in September.

Calf Scramble and Ram Scramble at the Steamboat Pro Rodeo Series
A great way for kids to feel like a cowboy is to enjoy two of the more exciting events at the Pro Rodeo Series. The kids' calf scramble, for kids ages 6-12, is a race where a calf is let out into the arena and the kids chase it to grab the ribbon off its tail. Or, the ram scramble for kids ages 5 and under. The young ones compete the same as the big kids; however, gentle sheep are used instead of calves.

Howler Alpine Slide
Kids will get giddy once they see the thrill of the Howler Alpine Slide. Safely zoom down 2400 feet of alpine slide goodness as you hoot and holler your way through Steamboat's only alpine slide. This is a great activity for kids but for big kids as well!

Scenic Gondola Rides
Kids will marvel in the scenery of Steamboat Springs, Colorado via the scenic gondola ride. With the ability to hold 8 passengers in each gondola car, this activity is perfect for families and groups. When you reach the top of the mountain you can hike one of the scenic trails and enjoy lunch outside on the deck while soaking in the views of the Yampa Valley below.

Miniature Golf in Steamboat Springs
Goofy golf your way through a hilarious miniature golf course in Steamboat Springs.

Ice Skating in Steamboat Springs
The town of Steamboat Springs is home to Howelsen Ice Arena. This Olympic sized rink, one of two in the entire state, is popular for visitors and locals who want to "lace'em up". The rink offers skates for all ages and a great place to cool down on a warm summer day.
