|Arlo Guthrie was born July 10, 1947 in Coney Island, Brooklyn, NY with a guitar in one hand and a harmonica in the other. He has successfully foiled every opportunity to be somebody in the entertainment industry. He's done about 30 records, a few motion pictures, a TV series, a children's book, started a few recording and production companies and two not-for-profit foundations.
His most famous work is Alice’s Restaurant, a talking blues song based on a true incident of his Vietnam War draft. Among his other career highlights, Arlo was made famous for his Top 40 Hit "The City of New Orleans," and "Coming into Los Angeles," which he sang at the legendary Woodstock music festival, and which featured prominently in both the Woodstock movie and multi-platinum soundtrack album.
