Craters of the Moon National Monument | ![]() | ||||
| The result of ancient volcanic eruptions, the Craters of the Moon National Monument greets visitors with a weird and otherworldly scene. Reminiscent of the lunar landscape, the area was even visited by Apollo 14 astronauts in preparation for their mission to the moon. The Monument and Preserve is open year round, although automobile access may be limited in winter due to heavy snow. The Visitor Center is open year round from 8am to 4:30pm daily except for federal holidays. | ||||
