Travel in Northern Norway is not for the faint of heart. Though the region affords some civilization (Nordkapp, Hammerfest and Tromso are among the towns), you'll find the rocky terrain and rough waters in the shadow of the Arctic Circle are for true adventure travelers.
Visit Hammerfest and you'll walk among the people residing in the northernmost city in the world (or at least it bills itself as such). There's plenty of fishing (sport and commercial, freshwater and salt), diving and hiking the region's glacier, plus one added bonus if you're there in spring or fall - the cosmic phenomena of the Northern Lights, easily visible in the night sky.
Other highlights of Northern Norway are Tromso, where you can raise a glass (there are more pubs per capita than any other Norwegian town) or try your hand at dog sledding in the world's most northern university town, or Narvik, another town on top of the world that boasts the best in downhill skiing.
When it's time to warm up by a crackling fire, we offer just the cottage to thaw your toes.
