| Tony and Emmy award-winning Kristin Chenoweth (Glee, Pushing Daisies, Wicked) lights up The Eccles Center with an unforgettable New Year’s Eve show. A dazzling soprano and consummate entertainer, Chenoweth commands the stage, delivering a celebration bursting with song, dance and witty repartee. The “Evening with Kristin Chenoweth” begins at 8 p.m. on Monday, December 31, 2012.
The Broadway, film and television star has a knack for delivering a show that seamlessly traverses musical genres. Opera-trained, Chenoweth draws from her extensive Broadway repertoire, her latest country-tinged album (Some Lessons Learned) – and virtually any genre in between. She sings. She dances. She enchants. “Not only is Chenoweth stunningly talented – her flawless soprano voice glides easily between low-register growl…to some seemingly impossible note above C – she is funny, self-deprecating, generous and a good sport,” writes the Dallas Morning News. Best known for her starring role as Glinda the Good Witch in Broadway’s Wicked, the petite Chenoweth has become a prolific star on the stage and screen. Her television roles have ranged from Glee and Pushing Daisies to The West Wing and GCB; this fall, she has reoccurring role on the CBS hit drama The Good Wife and she’s slated to co-host the American Country Music Awards. Her on-stage roles have ranged from a Tony-winning performance in You’re A Good Man Charlie Brown to Promises, Promises; and her film appearances span the cinematographic spectrum, from Bewitched to Running with Scissors. As a solo performer, she sold out Carnegie Hall as well as the Metropolitan Opera House – and she’s collaborated with symphonies around the country. Outside the spotlight, she’s recorded four albums and written a candid, uplifting book, “A Little Bit Wicked.” “New Year’s Eve is the ideal time for a community to come together to experience the magic of live performance – in this case, a wickedly entertaining show from one of Broadway’s best,” says PCPAF executive director Teri Orr. “There has to be a wow-factor for New Year’s and Ms. Chenoweth has just that.
